Eco Heating At West BS we offer a
variety of Eco friendly heating solutions, details of a couple of
popular options are detailed below but please feel free to ocntact
us to discuss any specific requirements you may have.
Condensing Boilers
Boilers account for around 60% of the carbon dioxide emissions in a
gas heated home. By fitting a new high efficiency condensing boiler
with full heating controls, you will significantly cut your home's
carbon dioxide emissions and could save as much as £270 a year. For
more information on condensing boilers please select the link on the
menu on the left,
Heat Pumps
Imagine never having to worry about turning your heating controls
down to save money.
Imagine your home being constantly warm and comfortable.
Imagine a heating system that uses renewable energy, requires no
regular maintenance and is completely safe with no local greenhouse
emissions.
Proven Technology
Although relatively new to the UK, heat pumps are a proven
technology pioneered in Sweden where 97% of all new houses are built
with heat pump heating systems.
Low Running Costs -
Moving Heat from Your Garden into Your Home
Heat pumps work by collecting heat from your garden and moving it
into your home - essentially a refrigerator working in reverse. The
technology works so well that even when freezing outside - your home
is still warm and snug.
Best of all, because you are moving heat, rather than creating it by
burning oil or gas, the system is much more efficient with average
savings of up to 70% on your annual running costs.
Heat pumps are available in three different formats, ground - air
and water, for an overview of each type of system please select from
the menu's on the left.
Wood burning stoves
Wood burning stoves are better in environmental terms as the amount
of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere is the same as that
absorbed by the tree during growth. It is also a renewable resource,
particularly when derived from plantations and cultivated woodland.
Glazing
Double glazing cuts heat lost through windows by half and installing
Energy Saving Recommended double glazing could save around £110 a
year on your heating bills. Double glazing works by trapping air
between two panes of glass creating an insulating barrier that
reduces heat loss, noise and condensation. Technology is now so
advanced that there are many different types of glazing which are
available to suite a customers needs, whether it be to reduce heat
loss, or to reflect sunlight.
For further information on glazing please see our Glass and PVCU
section.
Insulation
As much as 20% of your energy bill can be saved by using effective
methods of insulating your home. Insulating a loft can be especially
effective due heat rising.
When insulating a loft, a depth of at least 150mm (6inches) is
recommended. In many older properties, shallow joists in lofts
restrict depth for loose-fill insulation. It is a quick and easy job
to lay the insulation material between joists.
Whichever method of insulation you choose, it is worth remembering
that mineral fibre and rock fibre are proofed against rot, vermin
and damp. These materials are also non-flammable.
West BS either stock or can procure many varied types of insulation,
including; quilt roll, acoustic, rigid sheet and loose fill.
Whatever your application requirements, from new build, to loft
conversions, or simply improving the insulation in your attic space,
West BS Limited deal with all the leading manufacturers in the
insulating sector.
